Извлечение V из жидкого чугуна, как правило, продувкой его газообр. кислородом. При этом осн. часть р-ренного в чугуне V (> 70—90 %) окисляется и переходит в шлак с 15-30 % V2O5, который затем перерабатыв. в пентоксид ванадия и феррованадий. Деванадируют чугун в кислородных конвертерах (ОАО «Нижнетагильский меткомби-нат»), виброковшах (ф. Highweld Steel and Vanadium», ЮАР), агрегатах струйного рафиниров. (Паньчжихуанский меткомбинат, КНР) и др.
